Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about Classeo, Moodle integration, security, and rollout.
About Classeo
What is Classeo?
Classeo is an integration layer between your institution's student information system (SIS/ERP) and Moodle. It automates class provisioning, enrollment sync, meta-course fusion, and end-of-term archive — the parts of Moodle administration that eat hours of IT time every semester.
We built it because every Quebec CEGEP we talked to was maintaining a homegrown PHP script to do the same thing, poorly. Classeo replaces that script.
Who uses Classeo?
50+ colleges and universities across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, France, and Belgium. Both CEGEP-level institutions and 4-year universities. Both French-speaking and bilingual campuses.
How is Classeo different from writing our own sync script?
Three things:
- You don't maintain the script — Moodle API changes, SIS format changes, and Law 25 audit requirements are our job.
- Edge cases are handled — meta-course fusion, late section swaps, audit-only students, cross-institutional faculty.
- Observability comes included — full audit log, retry queue, and error alerting.

Integration & technical
Which SIS and ERP systems does Classeo support?
International student information systems: Jenzabar, PeopleSoft, Banner, and Workday Student. Quebec higher-education ERPs: Omnivox, Clara, and COBA. Any other system with a REST API, nightly CSV export, or database view can be integrated. If your SIS isn't on this list — contact us with the name.
Which Moodle versions are supported?
Classeo supports Moodle 3.9 LTS and all subsequent Moodle 4.x releases. We track the Moodle upgrade cycle and update our integration at each LTS release.
How often does Classeo sync?
Every 15 minutes during the first two weeks of each semester (add/drop period), then hourly for the remainder of the term. Real-time sync is available for institutions that need it.
Can Classeo merge meta-courses?
Yes. Multi-section courses can be unified into one Moodle course with groups per section. Teachers get one content space; grades and discussions stay scoped to each section's group. See our meta-course fusion guide.
Security & privacy
Where is student data stored?
In your institution's Moodle instance and your SIS — not in Classeo. We read from the SIS and write to Moodle. No persistent copy of student data lives outside your environment.
Is Classeo compliant with Quebec's Law 25?
Yes. We comply with Law 25 (An Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information) and Canadian PIPEDA. Data processing agreements are signed with every client institution. See our Security best-practices declaration for the full compliance framework.
How do you handle a security incident?
Clients affected by a confirmed incident are notified within 72 hours. Critical vulnerabilities are patched within 24 hours. See our Vulnerability management policy.
Pricing & rollout
How much does Classeo cost?
Classeo is priced by institution size (number of active students). We're transparent about pricing but want to confirm scope before quoting — book a demo and we'll give you a firm number in the same call.
How long does a rollout take?
Typical rollout is 4–8 weeks: 2 weeks for SIS integration, 2 weeks of parallel running, 2 weeks of pilot with 3–5 courses, then full deployment. We've done express rollouts in 10 days when the semester start is approaching — ask about it.
What happens if we switch LMS later?
If you move from Moodle to another LMS we support, the SIS integration is already there and we can retarget it. If you move to a platform we don't support, you can take your data and go — we don't lock you in.
